Sharjah Rebate Scheme is an incentive scheme that provides funding between 5%-20% to Production Companies for producing their projects in Sharjah.
The rebate scheme will become effective as of 1st January 2021.
The rebate scheme will be administered by the Shams Film Commission.
Regional and International Production Companies starting their project after January 1, 2021, and meet the eligibility criteria.
Regional and International Production Companies in association with companies listed under Sharjah Media City.

Applications for the rebate should be received at least 30 days before the commencement of principal production in Sharjah and up to 60 days if there are script approvals required from the National Media Council. Principal photography must start within 60 days of Issuance of the Interim Rebate Certificate by Shams Film Commission. Please note that applicants must obtain an Interim Rebate Certificate during pre-production (i.e. before commencing principal photography).
No. The final decision will be communicated after submitting the full proposal including the budget and production schedule etc. and reviewed by the Members of the Commission.
For most of the production types, the following documents, but not limited to, may be required:
- Latest draft of the shooting script
- Copy of NMC script approval
- Shooting schedule
- Total itemized budget for production expenses in Sharjah
- Copy of the executed agreement between the applicant and the financier(s) of the production (where applicable)
- Proof of fund (where applicable)
- Copy of an agreement between the company and the local company that is listed under Sharjah Media City
- Copy of relevant production insurance
- Current trade license of the Applicant Company
One soft copy (electronic) and one hard copy of the completed Application Form, with all required documentation, should be sent to:

Once all relevant information has been received, and the application has been approved, an Interim Rebate Certificate should be issued within 30 working days.
International travel costs and hotel accommodation do qualify for the rebate if booked via agencies in the Emirate of Sharjah.
Air Freight charges qualify, if booked through a Sharjah company. However, applicable customs charges do not qualify for the rebate.
Each project is assessed separately after the negotiation between the applicant and members of the film commission.
No. However, every project receiving the rebate has an obligation to offer training and to provide internship opportunities.
Within 90 days of the completion of all production or post-production, the applicant must submit an Audited Expenditure Report.
